Evaluation of total displacement an embankment dam with clay of core
Abstract
Iran is on the dry belt of the planet. Therefore, the importance of planning and managing the use of existing water resources is vital. The containment of flood and current water by dam construction is one of the basic issues in improve and development of any country, including Iran. Technical and economic considerations in design have shown that, in many cases, earth dams have been preferred to other options and are suitable for the final design of dams.In this research, the study of the distribution of total displacement on the earth's dam with clay core (case study of Derik dam) was investigated. The results showed that the greatest change in the Derik earth dam was obtained with a clay core of 8 cm and the least change in the asphalt concrete core was 2 cm. This results shows the higher ability of the PLAXIS model to solve complex problems.
